Feeding Therapy

At Elevate, we work with a variety of feeding and swallowing disorders, from difficulty chewing and tongue thrust swallow patterns to picky eating. Treatment is individualized to each child to meet their specific feeding needs to expand food repertoires and promote safe swallowing.

Signs that your child may need feeding/swallowing therapy:

• Difficulty with breastfeeding 
• Difficulty breathing while eating and drinking
• Coughing and/or choking 
• Refusals during mealtimes
• Limited food repertoire (less than 20 foods)
• Holds food in their mouth (pocketing)
• Eats only certain textures, such as soft food or crunchy food
• Difficulty chewing
• Takes a long time to eat
• Messy eating
• Liquids come out of mouth or nose while eating
• Nasal congestion during or after eating
• Wet voice during or after meals
• Spitting up or vomiting
• Not gaining weight or growing
• Mealtimes are stressful to child and/or parent/caregiver
